Berberis thunbergii f. atropurpurea 'Chocolate Summer'PBR
This handsome 'Japanese Barberry' makes a neat garden plant ot low hedge. Dark purple-brown foliage covers the red stems. In late spring, tiny yellow flowers, attractive to pollinators, are produced, later becoming small red berries providing autumn and winter interest. This shrub drops its leaves in winter, and new foliage appears in spring.

Hardy and easy to grow, plant into any average garden soil, avoiding wet areas. Trim to size and shape in spring.

Soak plant thoroughly in its pot before planting, dig hole large enough to comfortably accommodate the root ball. Ensure the surrounding soil and the top of the root ball are at the same level. Fill around the root ball with soil mixed with good planting compost and a suitable fertiliser. Firm well and water generously.
