RHS Plants for Pollinators

Stokesia laevis 'Blue Star'

A really beautiful plant with huge 'Cornflower' like flower heads in Wedgewood blue. An extremely reliable plant. The attractive foliage remains green in mild winters, whilst the lilac blue flowers remain for long periods. Trim plants to shape, removing any winter damage in spring to encourage new growth.

Plant Care

Keep well watered until firmly established. Feed with a good liquid fertiliser every two weeks in the flowering season. Plant into any good garden soil, avoiding wet areas.

Height/Width

Water thoroughly, or stand pot in a container of water for half an hour before planting. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Remove the pot, place the plant in the hole so that the root ball is level with the surrounding ground and refill, firming if necessary. Keep well watered in dry weather. Feed in spring with a good, general fertiliser.
