RHS Plants for Pollinators

Gaillardia x grandiflora 'Arizona Sun'

This colourful variety performs well in pots or borders. The large daisy-like flowers are hot red with a deep yellow rim and and red and gold button centre. It forms a compact mound of rich green foliage covered in buds and flowers throughout summer and into the autumn. It's an easy, hardy subject that will reward you if planted in the front of the flower border or a patio container.

Plant Care

Keep well watered until firmly established, feed with a good liquid fertiliser every two weeks in the flowering season.

Height/Width

Water thoroughly, or stand pot in a container of water for half an hour before planting. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Remove the pot, place the plant in the hole so that the root ball is level with the surrounding ground and refill, firming if necessary. Keep well watered in dry weather. Feed in spring with a good, general fertiliser.
