RHS Plants for Pollinators

Crocosmia 'Emberglow'

Hardy Crocosmia or 'Montbretia' originate from South Africa. This resilient plant forms mounds of arching green stems during summer months, topped with large, deep burnt scarlet-red flowers. These nectar rich flowers will attract bees and butterflies. Easy to grow in open borders or in plant containers, providing rich colour in the garden and attractive cut flowers for decoration.

Plant Care

Keep well watered until firmly established. Plant into any average garden soil, avoiding wet areas. These plants die down in winter to re-grow each spring.

Water thoroughly, or stand pot in a container of water for half an hour before planting. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Remove the pot, place the plant in the hole so that the root ball is level with the surrounding ground and refill, firming if necessary. Keep well watered in dry weather. Feed in spring with a good, general fertiliser.
