Ribes nigrum 'Big Ben'

A variety of Blackcurrant that certainly lives up to its name! The fruits of 'Big Ben' can be up to two or three times the size of other varieties. They are also incredibly sweet, and can even be eaten straight from the bush. Early cropping variety and easy to care for.

Plant Care

Plant into any average garden soil, avoiding wet areas. Can be grown in patio containers. Prune any weak shoots to ground level in spring and feed with a good general fertiliser.

Water thoroughly, or stand pot in a container of water for half an hour before planting. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Remove the pot, place the plant in the hole so that the root ball is level with the surrounding ground and refill, firming if necessary. Keep well watered in dry weather. Feed in spring with a good, general fertiliser.
